FREE SOUL INFUSION KIT: 20 life-changing strategies & bonus gifts

The Perks of Peculiarity

ball-standing-outIt’s challenging not to adhere to the culture of conformity that society often presents. From the time we’re young, we’re told that we need to be a certain way in order to fit in. And in order to meet that basic need which is a sense of belonging, we comply.

As a result, we end up subduing or eliminating our most unique characteristics. Our quirks become our shame. We lose confidence in our essence and become a shadow of what we were intended to be.

Are there aspects of yourself you have tucked away that speak directly to who you are? What has “fitting in” cost you?

The only traits you need to “fit in” are those of courtesy and compassion. They give you the ability to accept people as they are and give them room to do the same.

Don’t let the illusion of conformity erase your soulprint, your reason for being.

Knowing Your Roots

sidewalk-sprout“The audacious hope of rooted things…” ~Cynthia Bond from her book, Ruby

Things that are rooted stand firm. It doesn’t necessarily mean inflexible, but it does mean tenacity and a surety of knowing. It means being convicted about the truth of who you are and committed to the expression of it.

Experiencing “audacious hope” is a natural byproduct of this intensity of conviction. It describes a bold and unapologetic state.

Ask yourself. Do you ever experience this “audacious hope?” If not, is it possible that you aren’t firmly rooted? How convicted are you about the dreams you hold? Have you committed to your core truths?

Silence is Golden

self-solitude-II-900x1800-1024x512How comfortable are you with silence?

Granted we all have different personalities and some need more activity than others. But how often do you set aside time to just be with yourself?

It doesn’t have to be meditation. It doesn’t have to be extended. But everyone can use a little downtime.

We give our electronics time to recharge. Perhaps we can choose to give ourselves the same courtesy.

Five minutes. Or maybe just 60 seconds.

One minute to do nothing but breathe. Just be.

One minute without worry, without expectation, without doubt.

One minute to fill up on nothing but the miraculous force that created you.

Don’t you deserve that type of rest?

An Inside Job

unnamed-1An odd thing happened the other day. In the midst of a snow storm, a flock of robins decided to take up temporary residence on my street. They sang loudly, kept diving at steep angles, and seemed to be enjoying themselves as the snow steadily came down. The juxtaposition of the spring-like joy in the middle of winter spoke loud and clear. (You can see them in action here.)

This was a reminder to enjoy yourself despite the circumstances. It’s possible to draw upon whatever your true nature is to find your delight. Waiting on external cues may not be in your favor. Once you’re able to cultivate that elation within, you’ll never be at the mercy of what goes on around you.

Did You Hear Yourself?

Words-and-power“Life is difficult. It is a struggle and you must fight for what you want.”

“Life can be challenging but you have the ability to answer the call to rise.”

On the surface, it seems they are saying the same thing – one more forcefully, the other more gently. Depending on your personality, one may sit well with you whereas the other doesn’t resonate at all.

Words matter. They shape the way we see the world and how we subsequently choose to act in it. When we become more aware of the specific language we’re using, we reveal our deepest beliefs about the world and about ourselves.

What is it that you have been saying about how your life is unfolding? What subtle changes in your speech may give you a much needed shift in perspective?
