Defining Moments

forkintheroad

We all have moments where we reach the proverbial fork in the road. Do you say yes or no? Should you turn left or right? Do you take what’s offered or hold out for better?

Every decision you make has the potential to present a shift in your trajectory. This can be overwhelming, even paralyzing when you take in the gravity of that statement. However, every decision doesn’t have to be a struggle if you have cultivated or are cultivating your relationship with instinct.

Remember, instinct and impulsivity are two different things. Instinct comes from a higher place of knowing. Impulsivity is an ego move.

The important thing to remember is not to dwell in the “what if’s.” Yes, your journey may have shifted to what feels like a sub-optimal result. However, getting back on the track of instinct can lead you back to the desired opportunity you feel you missed. Or, it may lead you to an even better outcome than you could have imagined – all because you took a so-called “wrong” turn.

Your defining moments have not passed you by. They are in your power because the choice is always yours to make.

Promises, Promises

I-promise1-275x247It’s the second week of the new year, and already there is temptation to settle back into pre-holiday patterns. Schedules resume and routines have returned. It’s easy to slip into habit.

Do not allow the promise of the new year to dissipate. If there was something you promised to change or improve, honor it.

You have to cultivate your relationship with change as you would any other type of relationship. Revisit your commitment and renew your pledge.

Creating a life you love is not a one-time decision. It is a choice you make over and over again. Be present to the moments where you feel weak and question your strength and ability. These are the times where you are susceptible to running on automation and continue doing the things you always have.

New Year’s Evolution

2015It’s that time of year when most people focus on what they want to bring into their lives. As 2014 winds down, the promise of a blank slate seems that much more appealing.

Truth be told, a new start can be made at any time. It doesn’t have to be a new year, or a Monday. or the first of the month. The timing is irrelevant. However, there is one thing that will make all the difference whenever you decide to start.

In order to receive what the new year has to offer, you have to make room for it. So the question becomes, what are you ready to let go of?  Bad habits, compromising relationships, complaining?

As 2015 makes its appearance, what has to leave so better options can come in?

Tweet this: In order to get what you desire, you have to consciously make room for it.

The Worst Habit Possible

o-NAIL-BITING-facebookHow aware are you of your habits? Nail biting, cracking knuckles, excessive social media…the list goes on and on. While, those things may not be life-altering, there is one behavior you may have that is.

Like anything else in life, fear can become a habit.

Each time you make a decision out of fear, you strengthen the urge to do the same thing the next time. Repetitive actions eventually become unconscious behaviors. The point at which fear becomes your default mode, is the point at which you begin living a very small version of what your life could be.

Be very aware of what you are choosing. Every decision opens up or closes possibilities. Make sure fear is not dictating what those possibilities may be.

Fertile Ground

Living-Soils-The-Key-to-Abundant-Plant-Growth-2During difficult periods, it can feel as if your life is in upheaval. Your very foundation feels compromised and it can be frustrating and disorienting.

However, we have to realize that the disruption may be in our best interests. Think about a garden. In preparation, the soil may be tilled in order to create fertile ground. It is only when the compacted soil is broken up that seeds can be planted. Not to mention that the tilling can also get rid of weeds.

When it comes to what you consider your foundation, does it leave room for expansion, or is it rigid and unyielding? Do your deepest beliefs allow for any progress? Is it possible that your core needs some shaking up?
