There’s a tendency to draw conclusions about ourselves from a moment in time.
One can be going through a difficult period. But instead of acknowledging it as such, it may be internalized as “I’m a failure.” An unsuccessful job interview becomes, “I’m not smart enough.” One bad decision turns into “I can’t trust myself.”
Consequently, a moment becomes a mantra.
Yes, there are defining moments in life but they are few and far between. Don’t mistake the passing for permanence.
