An island retreat, removed from the rigors of daily life, offers a chance for solace and clarity. Yet, in an age of “physical distancing,” isolation is perceived by many to be an imposition, an annoyance or a bore.
Granted, this type of isolation differs. However, it is a departure from daily life as it usually presents.
The root word, insulatus, means made into an island. An “I”-land. A land that makes many uncomfortable as the inner voice emerges when daily routines/distractions are no longer. Dealing with self can be disconcerting.
Fighting that discomfort makes isolation unbearable. What if facing it is just what you need to understand it’s underlying gifts?
